Watutsi was initiated as Alabé in the Candomblé tradition when he was eight years old. Ever since drumming belonged to his way of cultural expression.
Wellknown musicians like Gilberto Gil, Osibisa, Femi Kuti, Bebel Gilberto and recently Forro in the Dark invited him to play with them.
In Europe he started to introduce Sambareggae and tought several Germans, who are now bandleaders of different samba groups.
Today once in a while he performs with the Watutsi Percussion Band. His special interest is in creating new sounds and instruments.
